Historical Information

previous hit Mecklenburg  next hit previous hit County  next hit was named for Charlotte of previous hit Mecklenburg  next hit-Strelitz, consort of King George III. It was formed from Lunenburg previous hit County  next hit in 1764. The previous hit county  next hit court first met on 11 March 1765. The previous hit county  next hit seat is Boydton.

previous hit Mecklenburg  next hit previous hit County  next hit is one of Virginia's Lost Records Localities. Numerous loose records prior to 1783 are missing. Volumes that record deeds, court orders, and wills exist.

Two freeholders were appointed on order of the previous hit county  next hit court to procession or review the bounds of farms or tracts of land in each precinct in order to renew or replace old landmarks. This was originally a function of the church vestry, but was continued by the court after disestablishment. Persons who walked the boundaries were called processioners.
